Obituary of Olga Thrower
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Olga Thrower on Saturday June 6, 2026, at the age of 92, at the Greater Niagara General Hospital.
Loving mother of Donald (Jo-Anne), David (Sandra), and Robert (Tina) Thrower. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Bradley (Karly Melo), Kailey (Chris) Richards, Alexander (Stephanie Gutierrez) and Eric (Catherine Oatway) Thrower, and four great grandchildren: Brady and Charlotte Thrower, and Emma and Brock Richards.
Her quick wit and quiet one-liners were always well timed and hilarious. Mom often hosted family meals where she would prepare elaborate home-made meals start to finish including various desserts and acted like it was no big deal. Olga possessed many skills, knitting blankets, touques, mittens, baking cakes, pies, cookies, bread, pizza etc. She always kept a busy household grounded, well fed and well organized.
Predeceased by her husband Ernest, her parents Elliot and Norma Zarrelly, and her sister Jean MacKinnon. Olga had immense love for her family and will always be remembered for her sense of humour, laughter and radiant smile. Her final years were spent at Chapel Heights in Niagara Falls where she met many people who became new friends. Thank you to all the staff there. She always kept in touch with relatives and friends and was often teased for her efforts to single-handedly keep the post office busy with her cards and letters.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTER, 827 East Main St., Welland, ON. Following Olga’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private burial will be scheduled at a later date.
