Obituary of Maria Mazzei
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Maria Mazzei (née Sdao) on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the age of 86.
Beloved wife of Carmelo Mazzei, Maria shared a lifetime of love, dedication, and cherished memories with her family. She was the cherished mother of Carmen (Debbie), the late Tony (daughter-in-law Cheryl), and the late Connie. Maria was a proud and loving Nonna to Hannah, Tyler, Meaghan, Sydney, and Emily, all of whom brought her immense joy and happiness throughout her life.
Maria will be fondly remembered by her sister, Rose Fucile (late Mario), as well as by many extended family members and friends whose lives she touched with her kindness, warmth, and generous spirit. She was predeceased by her parents, Roger and Catharine Sdao of Welland and her brothers Frank (Franca) and Tony (Maria) Sdao.
Maria will be remembered for her unwavering love of family, her strength, compassion, and the care she showed to those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the memories she created and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
The Mazzei family will receive relatives and friends at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME 827 East Main Street Welland on Sunday June 14, 2026 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Monday June 15, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrews The Apostle Church. Entombment will follow in Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Alzheimer's Society of Niagara Region or St. Andrew's Church.
