Obituary of David Wayne Burger
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loved one, David Wayne Burger, age 73, on June 24, 2026.
Born in 1953 to Stan and Ann Burger at the original Welland County Hospital, David spent his life in the Niagara region. He lived for many years in Welland before later making his home in rural Pelham on an old apple farm.
David worked as an electrician and was known for his ability to fix, build, and understand almost anything mechanical. He especially enjoyed tinkering with motors, engines, and generators, often finding satisfaction in bringing things back to life through patience and skill. He operated his own business, along with his wife and son, specializing in the repair and maintenance of generators.
Reserved by nature, David expressed his care for others more through his actions than his words. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Brenda, and a loving father to his children, Vanessa (Paul) and Matthew. He was also a proud grandfather to his granddaughter, Lily.
Throughout his life, David had a special affection for animals and shared his home and heart with many beloved dogs and cats over the years. David was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and valued the hope and promises found in the Bible. In recent years, he faced the challenges of a cognitive degenerative disease that gradually affected his health. He endured these difficulties with quiet determination and was supported by the love and care of his wife and family.
David will be remembered for his practical skills, steady presence, and his love of family, animals and sweet treats. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTER, 827 East Main St., Welland ON.
