Jacqueline "Jackie" Hardy
Jackie passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026 at the Foyer Richelieu Care Home.
Born on April 29, 1926 in St. Sylvère, Quebec, Jackie called many places home throughout her life, both in Quebec and Ontario. During their early retirement years, she and her husband, Rolland Perron, enjoyed spending several winters together in Florida.
Jackie was an ambitious and determined woman who worked hard throughout her life and embraced many different roles. During the war, she worked in a munitions factory in Québec. Later, she and Rolland owned and operated a restaurant in Toronto. She went on to work as an accountant for several large Toronto companies. Through both her example and encouragement, Jackie supported her many nephews and nieces to work hard, aim high, and get an education.
Although frugal in her habits, Jackie had a well-earned love of the finer things in life – fine clothing, beautiful shoes, and cars with a bit of spirit. In 2011, at the age of 85, she bought herself a sporty BMW 328i and continued to drive it well into her 90s.
Jackie spent her last twenty years in Welland, first residing at the Foyer Residence, and then moving to the Foyer Richelieu Care Home in March 2024.
She will be deeply missed by her family, including her sister Cécile (Bruno) St. Cyr and her many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She also held a special place in her heart for her dear friend and neighbor, Doris Poulin.
A spirited and fiercely independent woman, Jackie lived life on her own terms right through to her 100th year. She was known for doing things her own way — including letting the staff at the Foyer know exactly how she liked her coffee.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kundi and all of the staff at the Foyer for their love, compassion and care they gave to our precious Auntie. Your care was truly 5 sugar standard!!
The family invites relatives and friends to join them in celebrating Jackie’s life on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTER, 827 East Main St., Welland, ON. A chapel service will be held at 2:00 p.m. and internment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Foyer Richelieu Care Home.
