1929-2026
À l’âge de 20 ans, en 1949, Yvette a travaillé à l’Hôtel-Dieu de Québec, mais les religieuses disaient qu’elle n’avait pas la vocation. Quelques années plus tard, son oncle Onesime Pigeon l’a convaincu de partir pour la ville de Welland, en Ontario, le jeudi 7 août 1952. C’est en 1953 qu’Yvette rencontra son futur époux, Georges, sur la rue Cozy, dans le quartier de Welland surnommé « French Town », chez sa grand-mère, Joséphine Brochu. En septembre de la même année, elle épousa Georges et ensemble, ils eurent cinq enfants : Pierre Paul (Paul Déry), Roger (Heather Cumming), feu Doris (Erv Goertzen), Denis (France Dionne) et Cécile (Richard Lecompte).
En 1955, Yvette travailla à Dunnville, en Ontario, comme titre de fileuse de coton. Elle aimait les chansons à répondre, les belles soirées dansantes d’autrefois, la lecture, ainsi que jouer aux cartes avec sa sœur Rita et ses amis. Elle aimait également retourner dans son village natal de Saint-Magloire pour visiter sa parenté.
Yvette était une femme très croyante. Parmi ses beaux souvenirs, elle gardait précieusement celui de son voyage en Italie en 2000. Elle fut émerveillée par la beauté grandiose du Vatican, par Florence et son magnifique pont, ainsi que par Venise et ses milliers de pigeons. Un voyage inoubliable qui demeura gravé dans sa mémoire. Pendant plus de 71 ans, Yvette demeura fidèle à la paroisse du Sacré-Cœur de Welland, qui occupa une place importante dans sa vie.
Yvette laisse dans le deuil ses frères Jean-Noël (Danielle Thibodeau) et Ovila (Ghyslaine Marceau), ainsi que sa sœur Rose-Hélène (feu Roger Guy). Elle laisse également derrière elle une belle vie remplie, plusieurs petits-enfants et arrière-petits-enfants.
Que les anges te conduisent vers la vie éternelle. Que Dieu t’accueille auprès de Lui et t’offre une belle place au paradis.
La famille recevera les condoléances de 14h à 18h le 28 août 2026 à la MAISON FUNÉRAIRE DE WELLAND, CENTRE DE CRÉMATION ET DE RÉCEPTION, 827 rue Main Est., Welland, ON. Un service funéraire aura lieu à 10h le 29 août 2026 à l’Église du Sacré-Coeur, suivi de l’inhumation au Cimetière de Woodlawn. En lieu et place de fleurs, des dons peuvent être faits à la Kidney Foundation of Canada ou à Diabetes Canada.

At the age of 20, in 1949, Yvette worked at Hôtel-Dieu de Québec, but the nuns told her that she did not have a religious vocation. A few years later, her uncle, Onesime Pigeon, convinced her to move to Welland, Ontario, on Thursday, August 7, 1952.
It was in 1953 that Yvette met her future husband, Georges, on Cozy Street in Welland’s French Town neighbourhood, at the home of her grandmother, Joséphine Brochu. In September of that same year, she married Georges, and together they had five children: Pierre Paul (Paul Déry), Roger (Heather Cumming), the late Doris (Erv Goertzen), Denis (France Dionne), and Cécile (Richard Lecompte).
In 1955, Yvette worked in Dunnville, Ontario, as a cotton spinner. She enjoyed sing-alongs, the wonderful dances of days gone by, reading, and playing cards with her sister Rita and her friends. She also loved returning to her hometown of Saint-Magloire to visit family and relatives.
Yvette was a woman of deep faith. Among her most cherished memories was her trip to Italy in 2000. She was in awe of the magnificent beauty of the Vatican, Florence and its beautiful bridge, and Venice with its thousands of pigeons. It was an unforgettable journey that remained forever engraved in her memory.
For more than 71 years, Yvette remained a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Welland, which held an important place in her life.
Yvette will be lovingly remembered by her brothers Jean-Noël (Danielle Thibodeau) and Ovila (Ghyslaine Marceau), as well as her sister Rose-Hélène (the late Roger Guy). She leaves behind a beautiful and fulfilling life, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will continue to cherish her memory.

The family will receive relatives and friends for visitation from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on August 28th, 2026, at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 827 Main Street East, Welland, ON. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on August 29th, 2026, at Sacred Heart Church, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or to Diabetes Canada.
