Obituary of Gérard Gravel
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Gérard Gravel. Gérard passed away at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on December 20, 2023, at the young age of 91.
Gérard was born in Highland Park, Michigan. From there he moved to Quebec, then Welland. He retired from Atlas Steel 33 years ago. He enjoyed spending time out on his boat with his wife and family. He loved fishing with his grandchildren.
Beloved husband of more than 67 years to his wife Rolande (née Roy). Devoted father to his children, Donald, Hélène (David Bright), Colette (Russell Willie) and Johanne (Robert Frost). Loving and caring grandfather to his grandchildren, Rachelle, Chantalle, Stéphanie, Raymond, Kristen, James, Robin, Cassandra and Sean. Great-grandfather to Hennessey, Damien, Myles and Titan. Cherished brother to Marcel Gravel, Georgette Garon and Colette Gravel. He will also be missed by his brother-in-law Roland Roy (Connie) and sister-in-law Pauline Ménard.
Predeceased by his parents Phillip and Marie Gravel, brother Roland Gravel, and 2 sisters Simone Careau & Ivette McCutcheon.
He will be missed dearly. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire team at Greater Niagara General Hospital who provided excellent care for Gérard during his hospital stay.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 827 East Main Street Welland, on Friday, December 22, 2023, from 11:00a.m. until service time at 1:00p.m. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Alzheimer’s Society of Niagara would be greatly appreciated by the family.
