Obituary of Georgette Marie Fontaine
A beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, and sister. It is with hearts full of love that, we are saddened to share the passing of Georgette Fontaine( nee Samuel), who died on May 16, 2024 in the comfort of her own home at the vibrant age of 90.
Georgette was the matriarch and heart of our family. She raised a beautiful daughter, Diane (Bill Bruin), in a happy full-of-life home. Georgette was married for 48 years to her soulmate Ben, who preceded her in death over 20 years ago. As a grandmother of four (Jamie, Tracy, Stephanie, and William) she modelled a “Joy de vie” unlike no other, and shared her wonderful love of music which carried on to her 7 great-grandchildren (Evan, Kara, Katy, Madison, Simone, Skylar and Willow). To her surviving siblings (Terese, Normand, and Victor), she was the host for countless wonderful home-cooked breakfasts, memorable chats, and coffee times.
Georgette held the hearts of many, and will forever be loved and cherished by all who had the opportunity to know her. She was known for playing guitar which she picked up in her 40’s, and had her own band playing covers of country music right into her 80’s. She never shied away from a good time, and enjoyed the wonders of the outdoors. She spent many summers camping at White Tail Lodge in Noelville, fishing, and singing songs around the campfire, if you happened to drive by her home, the door was always open - actually propped open even in the winter, ready to feed breakfast or lunches to those who stopped by.
Georgette’s laughter, smiles, and honest wisdom will be remembered by all those who had the privilege to spend time with her. She lived with no regrets and had an incredible life journey. The love she shared, and the love she received will always be present in our lives.
