Obituary of Émilien Arsenault

C'est avec une grande tristesse que la famille Arsenault vous annonce le décès d'Émilien, le 17 octobre 2017 à l'âge de 94 ans et 11 mois. Cher époux de feue Paulette Thiffault, père bien-aimé de Lynne (Bruce), France, et Renée (Jean-Guy). Grand-papa adoré de Kristan (Alison), Claudine (Herbert), Olivia (Kevin), Adam (Heidi), Mathieu et de feue Émilie. Arrière-grand-père de Seren, Lexie Rose, Éloïse, Mia et Lloyd. Il laisse dans le deuil ses sœurs et frères Hilda, Roland, Marielle et Lise. Prédécédé par ses parents Jean-Marie et Clarisse, ainsi que ses frères et sœurs Louis, Albert, Jeannette, Rolande, Gilberte, Raymond et Michel du Québec. Émilien est né à Bonaventure, Québec en 1922. Il est arrivé à Welland en 1941. Il a joint l'armée durant la Deuxième Guerre mondiale et a servi à Montréal. Il a rencontré sa douce Paulette à Parent en Abitibi alors qu'il travaillait pour le CN. Il a été muté à Jonquière, où ses 3 filles sont nées. En 1956, il est retourné à Welland avec sa famille et a travaillé pour la compagnie Atlas Steel où il a vécu le reste de sa vie. Émilien était un fier membre du Club Richelieu. Il était un passionné de sport, plus particulièrement de hockey tout en étant dévoué à sa famille et sa communauté. La famille reçevra parents et ami(e)s au SALON FUNÉRAIRE WELLAND 827 rue Main Est, Welland, le mercredi 25 octobre 2017 de 18h à 20h. Les funérailles auront lieu le jeudi 26 octobre à 13h30 à la Paroisse Sacré Coeur 72 rue Empire, Welland. L’incinération suivra. La famille désire remercier le personnel du Foyer Richelieu pour les bons soins prodigués. Papa a pleinement joui de ses quatre ans au Foyer. En témoignage de sympathies, des dons au Fonds Foyer Richelieu seront appréciés par la famille. It is with great sadness that the family of Émilien Arsenault announce his peaceful passing at the Welland Hospital on October 17th, 2017. Devoted husband of the late Paulette (née Thiffault). Cherished father of Lynne (Bruce), France and Renée (Jean-Guy). Adored grand-papa of Kristan (Alison), Claudine (Herbert), Olivia (Kevin), Adam (Heidi), Mathieu and the late Émilie. Great grand-papa to Seren, Lexie Rose, Éloïse, Mia and Lloyd. He leaves in mourning his sisters and brothers Hilda, Roland, Marielle and Lise. Predeceased by his parents Jean-Marie and Clarisse, and also by his brothers and sisters Louis, Albert, Jeannette, Rolande, Gilberte, Raymond and Michel of Québec. Émilien was born in Bonaventure, Québec in 1922 and moved to Welland in 1941. He joined the Army during the WWII and served in Montréal. He met his wife Paulette at Parent in Abitibi while working for CN Rail. He was later transferred to Jonquière, where his 3 daughters were born. He returned to Welland in 1956 with his family and worked at Atlas Steel until his retirement. Émilien was a proud member of Club Richelieu and had a passion for sports; especially hockey. He was a man very devoted to his family and his community. The family will receive relatives and friends at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME 827 East Main Street, Welland, Wednesday, October 25th, 2017 from 6 until 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, October 26th, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at Paroisse Sacré Coeur 72 Empire St., Welland. A special thanks to the staff at Foyer Richelieu for their compassionate care. Dad enjoyed his last 4 years there.
