Obituary of Catherine Racine

Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 5, 2015, at the age of 69. Cathy's greatest delight was her family, which included her husband of 50 years, Roger, and her children, Arleene (Mark), Michele (Jeff), Cheryl (Stuart). She was always extremely proud of her children and all that they had accomplished. Cathy was known as Nana to her 6 grandchildren, Alexa, Connor, Amanda, Ryan, Katelyn and Ethan, whom she loved dearly. Cathy will be remembered as an avid gardener and a determined golfer. She especially loved a weekly round with her late sister Betty and the other "golf ladies". Cathy also enjoyed travelling with Roger and their dear friends. One of her favorite places to visit was Mexico, but she also enjoyed the occasional trip to Australia to visit her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. She loved to socialize and was always the life of a party. Quite simply, Cathy lived to make all those around her happy. Cathy grew up in Thorold, daughter of the late Marceline and William Whitwell, and of predeceased sister, Doreen, Betty and Phillis, and brothers, Donald, Matthew, Victor, Stanley, and William. She moved to Welland in July of 1964 and began her married life. Cathy will be remembered as a loving wife, supportive mother, energetic grandmother and dear friend. Her kindness, honesty, and zest for life touched everyone she met and she will be deeply missed.
