Obituary of Tommaso Di Gioia

It is with profound sadness the family of Tommaso Di Gioia announce his passing at the Welland Hospital on Thursday, March 19, 2015 in his 84th year. Cherished husband of Teresa (nee Giovinazzo). Loving father of Roberto (Christine) of Burlington, Antonio (Angela) of Welland and John (Shelley) of Niagara Falls. Nonno will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Sarah, Julian, Isabella, Anthony and Lilianna. Dear brother of Pasqualina "Lina" (the late Nardino Albanese) and the late Vincenzo "Jimmy" Di Gioia (his wife Raffaelina). He leaves behind many nephews and nieces and extended family. Tommaso was predeceased by his parents Roberto and Teresa (Giovinazzo), his mother-in-law and father-in-law Mr. & Mrs. Giovinazzo and many brothers and sisters-in-law. Mr. Di Gioia was born in San Giorgio Morgeto, Reggio Calabria, Italy in 1932 and moved to Canada in 1951. He worked for Stelco Pipe for 35 years. Tomasso enjoyed bowling and golf. Funeral Details The family will receive relatives and friends at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME 827 East Main Street, Welland on Sunday March 22, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Andrew's The Apostle Church on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. The Rite of Committal will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Sisters of the Sacred Heart or St. Andrews the Apostle Church will be appreciated by the family. Service Information
