Obituary of Paul L. Gauthier
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul L. Gauthier on January 17, 2021 in his 96th year. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Dolores (Lavallée) Gauthier. Dear father of Pauline (Richard) Aubé and Jeanine (late Réal) Poulin. Beloved Grandpa to Rick (Julie) Aubé, Jennifer (Roger) Blair, Joanne (Chris) Thiessen and Julie (Michael) Scott. Cherished great-grandpa to Nina, Emma, Dylan, Vayda, Hendrix and Eldon. Survived by his sibling Sister Jeannine Gauthier of Ottawa, brother-in-law Jacques (Claudette) Lavallée of Welland, sister-in-law Carmelle Lavallée of Welland and sister-in-law Solange (late Laurier) Gauthier of Sturgeon Falls. Paul will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Henri and Irène Gauthier, son-in-law Réal, brothers Laurier, Victor, Roland, Arthur and Fernand and sister Thérèse.
Paul was a kind and respectful gentleman who loved meeting and getting to know people in his community. A proud member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree, Council 8296 and actively involved in his church. Paul spent some time as a taxi driver before opening an auto mechanic shop on King St. in Welland. Over the years he owned several garages, was a well-known auto mechanic and was a member of the King St. Boys. He became a teacher of auto mechanics at Northern High School in Sturgeon Falls and then at Dunnville High School in Dunnville. After his retirement in 1988, Paul continued pursuing his passion doing small engine repairs and travelling with his wife. Paul will be terribly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to WELLAND FUNERAL HOME. A private family service will be held at Paroisse Sacré-Coeur, 72 Empire St., Welland. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Paroisse Sacré-Coeur would be greatly appreciated by the family.
