Obituary
Genevieve “Genny” Gingras , 88, died July 20, 2019 in her home from complications related to kidney disease. Genny died peacefully surrounded by her family and friends.
She leaves her daughters, Carmen O’Hara and husband Paul; Lorraine Gingras; Diane Gingras and partner Kirk Opperman; Francine Gingras and husband Tim Sullivan; Monique Gingras; granddaughters Christine, Josephine and grandson Paul. Dear sister of Hervé (Yvette), René (the late Thérèse), Madeleine (the late Raymond), Jeanne D'Arc (the late Richard).
She was preceded in death by her spouse Dollard “Dolly” Gingras in 2003.
Born in Saint Magloire, Quebec, she moved to Welland with her family at age 14 and was an active member of the French community. Long known for her civic service, she volunteered for 25 years at St Vincent de Paul and collected friends wherever she went. She was curious, determined, hard working and was loved by the many who knew her. She was the Chief Operating Officer, a title she always believed she deserved, at D. Gingras Motor Sales Ltd where she helped build the family business.
The family will gather at the back of l’Eglise Sacre-Coeur, 72 Empire St. to receive friends and family at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 until the memorial service at 10:30 a.m. A private inurnment will take place later.
