Obituary of Jessie Dahl
Jessie Dahl (née Bowron) passed away peacefully on June 24, 2022, at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Howard Dahl (1999). Cherished Mother of Luthor (Claire), Glen (Elaine), Les (Vicki) and Joanne (Bruce). Grandma will be missed by her 8 grandchildren; Cynthia (James), Jenna (Ryan), Corey (Kevin), Tyler (Min), Drew, Maggie, Brad and Pam (Rob), as well as her great-grandchildren Emma & Matthew. Forever in the hearts of her sisters Barbara and Shirley. Predeceased by her parents Richard and Ada, as well as her brother Richard.
Jessie loved her career as a nurse in her hometown of Biggar, Saskatchewan. Although short in duration she left a lasting impression on many people and was often stopped on the streets of her hometown by someone remembering the exceptional care she provided. After marrying and starting a family with her soul mate, they moved from Saskatchewan to northern Ontario where the family enjoyed many years of fishing, berry picking and spending time with friends and family. Jessie was affectionately called “Bird” by those close to her. She gained this nickname after many years of volunteering as a “Brown Owl” leader with the brownies on Manitoulin Island and in Sudbury.
Jessie loved to knit making beautiful clothes for her grandchildren and charities. Many days were spent baking wonderful pies and cookies from scratch for the family to enjoy.
The family would like to thank her friends at Ina Grafton and Bella Senior Residence for making her final years special. Special thanks to the staff at Ina Grafton and Bella for caring for her during the past couple of difficult years during the pandemic.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE. A private Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Donations made to the Alzheimer’s Society, in Jessie’s honour, would be appreciated by the family.
