Obituary of Rosanna Margaret Tries
It is with great regret, that we announce the peaceful passing of our mom, Rosanna Tries on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at 3:33 a.m. at the Niagara Falls General Hospital. She bravely fought the effects of a first stroke but succumbed to a second stroke four weeks later.
Rosanna Margaret Carroll was born on February 17, 1933, in Actinolite, Ontario to James Cecil Carroll and Ruby Olive Beam. After high school, she trained as a nurse at the Niagara Falls General Hospital until she married the love of her life, John Tries of Niagara Falls, Ontario on February 15, 1958. They were married 51 years when he died in 2009 after his short battle with cancer.
Mom will be very sadly missed by her six children; Mary Vautour (Dan), Ann Makarenko (Nick), John Tries (Jorge), Frank Tries (Kelly), Joe Tries and Lizzy Belfry (Dave). She will always be in the hearts of her grandchildren; Joseph Vautour, Danielle Cawte (Joe), Laura Vautour, Annie Vautour, Emma Makarenko, Frank Tries Jr. (Ryanna), Clare Schell (Ash), Katherine Babcock (Tyson), Rebecca De Monte (Nic), Sarah Lambert (Matt), Bridget Belfry (Sam) and Carlin Belfry (Ellie). Fondly remembered by her younger sister Jeannie Langlois, her two younger brothers Johnny Carroll and Larry Carroll, as well as her in-laws: Frank Tries, Jeannette Tries, Margaret Pinkernelle, and Peter and Shirley Tries. She will be sadly missed by her 20 great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews along with their families, and many good friends that she made during her lifetime.
Rosanna is predeceased by; her sister Marcella and husband Dick Hennessey, her sister Lenora and husband John Paul Huard, her sister-in-law Wanda Carroll, her brother-in-law Marcel Langlois, her in-laws Jack Tries, Henry and Hugette Tries and John Pinkernelle.
Mom was a woman of deep faith and she had deep convictions. She was always a person of great hospitality. She was a fantastic cook and homemaker; her homemade jams had no rival. She loved sharing a cup of tea and a sweet treat with anyone who dropped in anytime for a visit. Charities were always a priority for her, along with filling boxes with essentials for the local food banks.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff at Seasons Retirement Home who have been so kind to Mom during her 2 ½ years there, not withstanding Covid lockdowns and Mom’s health setbacks with Alzheimer’s. We are grateful for the great care at the Niagara Falls Hospital Emergency where Mom first recouped for three days, and the absolute wonderful care by the staff on the third floor Brock Unit who took care of Mom for four weeks and made Mom’s last days comfortable and loving. A thank you to all family and friends who were wonderfully supportive to Mom and us as we cared for her in her last days.
