Well done Uncle Dan. 90 years shining in an ever demanding and chaotic world. If ever a life has balanced compassion and purpose so well it´s been yours. You have been one of few role models in my life and I expect also for so many others. One always felt welcome and important during a visit. The time and kind words invested were always appreciated. To his immediate family the loss must feel huge, but hopefully also offset by the many more uplifting memories you have had with such a consistently caring husband, father, grandfather...etc. I see in many of you his impact and thus grooming into being the welcoming and kind people you are. I would like to extend my family´s condolences and warm thoughts for all of you during this time of grieving for, and also celebration of, a remarkable and inspirational man. I cannot be with you in person at this time, but will be raising a glass to toast a life well lived. John, Sheila, Josh, Hanna Hatherley.

Dan was a dear neighbour of ours on Mercury Road many years ago and we are so sorry to hear of his passing. He was a kind, funny and compassionate family man and set a wonderful example for his children. He could also be tough when he had to be and we always felt safe with him living next door.
Jan, Dan, Daryl and Jessica ,,, we think of you often and know that your wonderful memories will sustain you through this difficult time. A long life well lived!
Sending you all a virtual hug.

Dear Jan, Dan, Darryl, and Jessica,
We are very sorry to hear that Dan has passed away.
As you know, Dan, and our Dad and Grandpa, Robert "Bud" Deall, shared a friendship that lasted from the time they were children, until Bud passed away in 2010. We were always struck by the strength of this friendship. When Bud passed away, Dan was with him, and all of our family, and this meant so much to us.
Our sincere condolences to all of the family.
Janet (Deall) Schwartz, Joanne Deall, Aislinn Schwartz, and Jared Schwartz

Susan and I are grieving with you as you also celebrate Dan’s life. He was a kind but gruff, plain spoken and generous friend to us. Jan and Dan were great mentors to us as a wise couple but always full of fun. Darryl and Dan I have some grey hairs from my days trying to corral you in Sunday school and youth group. Blessings on you all as you celebrate Dan’s life - we‘’ll hoist a glass in his memory

Jan, sorry to read Dan's obituary in this morning's Star. Dan was a pillar of strength to me at the time I lost my daughter Kelly in a street accident while on her way to school. He took me to the old morgue on Lombard Street downtown and stood by me through all I had to endure. He was also a reassuring presence when I witnessed a police action as a result of their investigation into the murder of a close friend of mine. My sister Nina (who died Sept 2019) was a colleague of Dan's sister Carol and Nina often spoke of the Christmas gathering Carol would host and she got to meet Dan. May your faith and your family sustain you at this time.

Hi Jan
Pat and myself have fond memories of Dan and yourself. From our time at Royal York Baptist. How Dan putthe cuffs on me in your home showing me how they worked, and then declared he didn't have the keys ,we have to go to the station. I also remember Dan's mother picking up us up to take us to church for awhile when we didn't have a car.
May our Heavenly Father keep you in His tender care during this time of loss.

I worked with Dan at the OSC. Dan was a highly respected coworker with unquestionable integrity. He had a keen sense of humour and was loved by his cohorts. I offer my deepest sympathies to Janice and Family.
