Obituary of Fernande Thibault
Surrounded by love, Fern passed away at Royal Rose Place on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Survived by her devoted husband and life partner of 71 years, Leo. Mother to 4 children; Diane (Tony), Lorraine (Henri), Bob and Carol (Mihai). Grandmother to 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her siblings; Erma Noiles, Jacques and Robert. Predeceased by her parents, Romeo and Blanche Poitras, her brothers; Romuald, Roland, Donald, Jean-Guy, Fernand and her sister Jeannine.
Mom and Dad shared an unbreakable bond. Their marriage served as a shining example to many. They shared many interests including; ballroom dancing, euchre, Scrabble, the casino and the occasional rum and coke. They weathered many storms and kept their commitment to one another, and their family, their top priority.
Mom was an exceptional cook and shared her passion with all four of her children, though none of us can hold a candle to her talent. Nothing was measured, everything made from scratch with a pinch of this and a splash of that. Even with four children to raise, she found time to express her creativity through sewing, knitting, crochet, needlepoint, flower arrangements and more.
Never one to reveal her feelings, she made sure to let us know she loved us all through her actions more than words. Her final surprise was to leave each of her children a beautiful message reminding us to live our lives fully, knowing that she will be waiting for us all one day.
Special thanks to Royal Rose staff who cared for Mom before and after her death. We know that our father Leo is in good hands.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE. Keeping with Fernande’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment will follow in the late spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Fernande’s memory.
