Obituary of John Friedlein
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. John Friedlein at the Royal Rose Place on Tuesday July 4, 2023, at the age of 94. Beloved husband of Colette Friedlein (née Carrier), loving father of Linda, her husband Kenneth and granddaughter Shannon Billy of Mississauga. Predeceased by his parents Anton and Mary Friedlein, 3 brothers Joseph, Carl and Edward Friedlein and 2 sisters Betty Kacur and Dorothy Kafun. He was also predeaced by his brother in-law Roland, Rosaire, Emile, Real, Robert, Gatean and Oscar Carrier as well as sister-in law Rita Marceau, Noella Roy and Bibianne Morin. He will be sadly missed by brother in-law Welley Carrier and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Friedlein was born in Simcoe, Ontario and moved to Welland in 1950 where he worked at Richman Lumber administrator and then Inco Metals until his retirement.
The family would like to thank Royal Rose Place for their compassion, empathy and dedication during this time.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION & RECEPTION CENTRE 827 East Main St., Welland on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. A chapel service will be held at the Welland Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Royal Rose Place and Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.

C’est avec grande tristesse que notre famille annonce le décès de John Friedlein à Royal Rose Place, le mardi 4 juillet 2023 à l’âge de 94 ans. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse Colette (née Carrier). Père bien-aimé de Linda (Kenneth Billy). Il était le Grand-Papa de Shannon Billy. Il était prédécédé par ses parents Anton and Mary Friedlein, ses 3 frères : Joseph, Carl and Edward Friedlein et ses 2 sœur : Betty Kacur, Dorothy Kafun, ses beaux-frères Roland, Rosaire, Emile, Real, Robert, Gatean et Oscar Carrier ainsi que ses belles-sœurs Rita Marceau, Noella Roy et Bibianne Morin. Il manquera beaucoup à son beau-frère Welley Carrier et à plusieurs nièces et neveux.
M. Friedlein est né à Simcoe, Ontario et a déménagé à Welland en 1950 où il a travaillé chez Richman Lumber administrateur puis chez Inco Metals jusqu'à sa retraite.
Des remerciements au personnelle du Royal Rose Place pour leur compassion, empathie et leur dévouement pendant cette période.
La famille Friedlein recevra parents et amis au SALON FUNÉRAIRE, CENTRE DE CRÉMATION ET DE RÉCEPTION WELLAND, 827, rue Main Est, le mardi 11 juillet 2023 de 13 h 00 jusqu’à l'heure du service à 14h00, dans la chapelle du salon funéraire. Enterrement suivra au cimetière Woodlawn. Si désiré, des dons à Royal Rose Place ou au Société Alzheimer Canada seraient appréciés par la famille.
