Obituary of René Beauparlant
It is with great sadness we announce the death of René Beauparlant on July 20, 2023, at the age of 96. Beloved husband of the late Margurite (née Lemay). Loving father of Johnny (Judy) Beauparlant, Julie (Dennis) Marois, Patty (John) Biledeau, Gisèle “Gigi” (Cliff) Durant, Theresa (Harry) Sawdon and Dan (Christine) Beauparlant. He will be sadly missed by 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Rita (late George) Lafond, Pierette (Laurier) Lavoie, Jacqueline (Marcel) Leblanc, Gerard (Rachel) and Noël. René will also be missed by several brothers and sisters-in-law. Predeceased by his siblings Claude (Claire), Learent (Laurea) and Germain (Mignonne).
Dad was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping, fishing on his boat and snowmobiling in the winter. He was at his happiest when he was at Sherkston in the summer and Florida in the winter. He was a very sociable butterfly and enjoyed having conversations with whoever he met. Dad loved his Saturday nights watching his Habs and Sunday spaghetti dinners with family and friends. Playing crib was his favorite pastime on a Sunday afternoon. Dad was a supervisor at Atlas steels when he retired in 1989 at the age of 62, he enjoyed a long retirement. We’ll miss you Dad, we’ll miss your laugh, your great sense of humor and your joy of life. Rest well dad, you deserve it. Mom has been waiting for a while! Thank you to the staff at the Foyer Richelieu, especially to the North End where dad lived. Thank you for your care, your patience and kindness. You were always very professional as well as caring, you treated my dad like family. Thank you as well to the Welland Emergency staff for the amazing care you gave our dad during his short stay with you.
The family will receive family and friends at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 827 East Main Street, Welland on Monday, July 24, 2023, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral service will be held at Église du Sacré-Coeur on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at 11 am. Interment will take place at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. If desired, donations to the Fonds Foyer Richelieu, Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada would be appreciated by the family.
