Obituary of Harry Wielink
It is with heavy hearts we announce that Harry “Hendrik” Wielink passed peacefully in his sleep on October 1, 2023. Beloved husband of Linda (née Dillabough) for 59 years. Loving father to their daughter Michelle (Ryan). His memory will be cherished by his two grandsons, Riley, and Ethan. Dear brother of Bill (Leny), Grace (Ko), Klaasje (Henk), Keith (Ann), Angie (Randy), Henry (Maria), Faye (Louis), Gary (Clara), and sister-in-law Viola. Predeceased by his parents Cornelis & Fytje (née Van Huigenbos) and two brothers; John & Hendrick.
Harry was a hardworking man, employed as a farmer, labourer, and truck driver, with long careers at Port Colborne Block and Winona Concrete. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with those he loved, passions only matched by his love of playing cards, golfing, and following the Toronto Blue Jays.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends, and fondly remembered for the deep sense of love and cheer he always radiated. His wonderful sense of humour and numerous memories will forever be cherished by all those whose lives he touched.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION & RECEPTION CENTRE 827 East Main St., Welland on Thursday, October 5, 2023, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday, October 6, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Doan’s Ridge Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Niagara Region or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
