Obituary of Gabriel Lapalme
March 19, 1937-October 13, 2023
Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Welland Hospital on October 13, 2023, at the age of 86. Gabriel will be lovingly remembered by his children; Hélène (John), Monique, Denise (Dave) and Denis (Julie). He was the beloved and cherished grandfather “Pepère” of; Raylène (Chris), Jean Paul, Janelle, Sonia (Jordan), Dylan, Megan, Michael (Paige), Curtis (Kellie), Janson (Alexandra) and Alanna as well as the proud great-grandfather “Pepère” to Jayden, Nate, Evan, Aedan, Dylan, Faye and Émilie. Gabriel is survived by his siblings; Colombe Lapointe (late Eugene) of Sudbury, Irene Gervais (Guy) of St. Charles and Charlie Lapalme (Suzette) of Ottawa. Predeceased by his parents, Dea and Eva (née Lalonde) Lapalme, his brother Alcide, his sister Gilberte Turcotte (late Dave), his sister Yolande Legault (late Andre), his brother Jean Louis (Rejeanne) and his brother Gerry (late Carmen).
Gabriel, a.k.a. “Joe” or “Roy” as he was sometimes known, was most comfortable in front of his two TV’s, watching his beloved Toronto Blue Jays, Montréal Canadiens and The Young and The Restless. The family extends a special thank you to all of the Personal Support Workers, especially Joanne, for their compassionate personal care over the years.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE. Following Gabriel’s wishes cremation has taken place, and a private family ceremony will take place at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Lung Association in memory of Gabriel would be greatly appreciated by his family.
