Obituary of Donna Theresa Horrocks
On October 25, 2024, one day after her 83rd birthday, Donna left us after a lengthy yet courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. She will be missed beyond words by her loving husband of 61 years, Ron, who stood by her side to the very end. Forever cherished by her 3 children, Jim (Julie), Julie, and Jeffrey, who loved her very much. She took great pride in her grandchildren, Davis (Emilie), Karlie (Gideon), Karcyn, and Kylar, as well as her great-grandchildren, Ellia and baby Chang on the way. Donna will be deeply missed by her siblings, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends who she considered family. We take comfort in knowing she was welcomed home by her beloved parents, Tom and Theresa, and several siblings and in-laws who went before her.
Those who knew Donna would agree that sarcasm was one of her love languages. Always quick with a witty reply, even through her illness, this quality endeared her to so many. Donna touched the lives of countless individuals through the numerous businesses she and Ron built together, most notably during her time at McDonald’s. The memories and sense of “family” they created continue to be shared fondly, a testament to her caring nature.
Watching dementia steal Mom from us was a journey no family should have to endure, but she held on with remarkable strength. Even though the illness tried to dim her light, it had to fight to take her spirit. A proud and stubborn Scorpio—something she would gladly tell you herself—she waited until hours after her 83rd birthday, spent surrounded by loved ones, to finally find peace.
We are forever grateful to the Woodlands family, who cared for her like their own in our absence and feel her loss just as heavily as we do today. They are true angels on earth, making the last four years of Mom's journey as fulfilling as possible under the circumstances.
Donna left behind a legacy of family that she would be proud of, both biological and chosen. While we will miss her profoundly in our daily lives, we take comfort in knowing she equipped us with the tools to carry on and honor what she helped to create.
Rest easy, Mom—we’ve got it from here.
